With the ERS Data System on a Tablet PC, assessors have quick and easy access to all necessary materials in one place -- not only the scale and scoresheet, but also supplemental materials.

An assessor can navigate through the scales with a tap of the stylus, easily answering indicators and recording notes on the observation. Interview questions for the staff and "notes for clarification" are conveniently available with each applicable item and indicator.

Any other document that the assessor might need, like an Address Book, or organization-specific requirements, may also be stored on the Tablet PC. And customizable, supplemental materials like Meal Guidelines, Playground Information, substantial portion of the day calculations, and handwashing tallies are accessible via the software's integrated, ink-enabled Excel worksheets.

When it's time to produce a Summary Report for the facility, the assessor can run a report from the software that automatically calculates raw, average, and overall scores, and includes scoring rationales from the notes taken in the field.

Scoring the assessments using the ERS Data System virtually eliminates inaccurate or incomplete scoring. On a single screen, the assessor can view "at-a-glance" which items are complete (and automatically scored), and which they have flagged for further review.
In addition to recording indicator answers, assessors may handwrite their own notes into the software to provide a rationale for the scoring. Using integrated Excel worksheets, assessors can easily keep track of scattered statistics like substantial portion of the day calculations, and handwashing and greeting/departing data.

Summary Report
The Assessor's Toolkit also provides the assessor with a versatile Summary Report that incorporates their "handwritten" notes explaining why the specific criteria were not met for a given indicator. This standardized report provides feedback for the room being assessed, serving as an outline for the steps required to improve the center's performance.

Wide-ranging observation information, like number of children enrolled and details on staff present, is collected on an easily accessible screen that also strives to prevent inaccuracies. Facilities need to be entered only once, and can be referred to in multiple observations.
